3D Dialogue

3D Dialogue: Religion and the Environmental Movement

As part of my tv show 3D Dialogue I had a conversation with Stuart Laidlaw, the faith and ethics reporter at the Toronto Star, regarding research he has done about the involvement of religious communities in the environmental movement. It was a great chat, and now that climate change is finally become a political priority, it's worth recognizing the contributions to the environmental movement from religious communities.

3D Dialogue: Kabbalah

This is an interview I did with Tony Kosinec regarding the study and practice of Kabbalah for my tv show 3D Dialogue. We had a great conversation, and Tony was able to really convey the role of Kabbalah in today's society. What I love about this tv show is our ability to share some of the great wisdom of humanity, with a broad and diverse audience, in a format that fits the medium.

3D Dialogue: The Rise of Cults

While cults have existed for thousands of years, their influence ebbs and flows with the cultural conditions that may help or hinder their efforts. In this discussion from the tv show 3D Dialogue, Robert Campbell, Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities at the University of Toronto, speaks with me about the history and type of cults in our society.

3D Dialogue: Shia and Sunni Muslims

If you've paid any attention to the news or media in the last few years then you've probably heard of Shia and Sunni Muslims. However it's also quite likely that you're impression of these two elements of Islam are superficial if not entirely inaccurate. Often you hear the American Government and Media blaming the ongoing war in Iraq on a conflict between Shias and Sunnis.

3D Dialogue: Zen Buddhism and Western Society

This is an interview I did with Sensei Taigen Henderson from the Toronto Zen Centre regarding Zen Buddhism and how to integrate eastern spirituality with life in western society.

3D Dialogue: L'Arche

Here's an interview I did with Carl MacMillan from L'Arche Daybreak about the organization and it's founder Jean Vanier. To quote from the L'Arche website:

"In L'Arche, people who have developmental disabilities and those who come to assist share life and daytime activities together in family-like settings that are integrated into local neighbourhoods. L'Arche in Canada has nearly 200 homes and workshops or day programs."

3D Dialogue: Behind the Scenes

I really enjoy being able to host the tv show 3D Dialogue, it's a lot of fun, and the people involved in producing the show are a great bunch. So I made this short film as a kind of glimpse behind the scenes.

3D Dialogue: The Book of Revelation

Here's an interview I did with Nik Ansell, Professor of Theology, at the Institute for Christian Studies, on the Book of Revelation, otherwise known as the Apocalypse of John. Certainly this particular part of the New Testament is something is often misunderstood, and even more frequently referenced. As religion and politics increasingly become intertwined in North American and global politics, it helps to have a sober discussion about the Book of Revelation and whether or not it's a prophecy or just a historical description. Check it out:

3D Dialogue: Falun Dafa, or Falun Gong

I honestly knew quite little about the Falun Dafa spiritual movement and practice before doing this interview. There's a lot of misperception about who they are and what they stand for, however this interview with Joel Chipkar really helped me understand not only their origins, but also their general beliefs. It's definitely worth watching if you've seen one of their protests and wondered what they were about.

3D Dialogue: Nihang Sikhs

I've learned quite a bit about Sikhs and Sikhism as part of my job hosting the tv show 3D Dialogue. Their committment to freedom, equality, and liberation is incredible, and still to this day they've kept their culture alive and vibrant, while still relevant to the modern world. These two segments are an interview with Jaswinder Singh about the Nihang Sikhs and the martial-art Gatka, which they practice.
